How do people select careers?

They choose a school major around age 17 or 18, go to college or start work, and hope they made the right gamble. Most people never revisit career options.

What happens during their career?

They change jobs every 2-3 years looking for advancement, more money, or lose their job and realize that their interest in work has changed and their current career does not fit. But, there is no objective way to know which career is the best fit right now and for how long.

What has been the outcome?

Some take personality and skills inventory tests where they subjectively answer questions about themselves, receive a ‘type’ and are shown job titles related to that type.
